Alt-N MDaemon Email Server Pro supports IMAP, SMTP, and POP3 protocols and delivers a solid performance with its user-friendly and feature-rich design. Mail server software offers a low total cost of ownership (TCO) designed to meet the needs of small and medium business customers. MDaemon is available in multiple languages ??and supports mailing lists, content filtering, multiple domains both offering flexible administration and open standard design. It combines several layers of security techniques such as relay controls, IP Shielding, SMTP authentication, and reverse lookup to minimize the possibility of server exploitation. It uses advanced Vouch By Reference (VBR) email authentication technique, and validates and signs messages using DKIM, DK, Sender-ID, and SPF. Combined with MDaemon AntiVirus anti-spam engine, Bayesian Learning, SSL / TSL, backscatter protection, and proactive malware prevention, it offers multiple layers of protection to keep your email communications safe. This allows you to encrypt your emails and attachments. On the client-side, MDaemon Webmail users can enable basic encryption features when sending emails and attachments in the Webmail settings menu. On the server-side, Open PGP for MDaemon has been added to provide administrators the ability to use basic key encryption, decryption, and key management capabilities through OpenPGP support.
Alt-N MDaemon Email Server Pro Key Features:
Email Security – Checking Broken Passwords:
MDaemon can check users’ passwords against lists of compromised passwords from third-party services, and then prevent users from using passwords found in the list. If the user’s password is on the list, it doesn’t mean the account has been hacked. This means the password has appeared in a data breach at some point. The published passwords could be used by hackers in dictionary attacks.
Email Security – MTA Strict Transport Security (MTA-STS):
MTA Strict Transport Security (MTA-STS) is a new Internet standard that increases email security by requiring that email be sent to an authenticated server using good encryption between all connections that the message passes. This helps prevent unauthorized message intrusion while ensuring data confidentiality and integrity.
Email Security – RequireTLS:
requires allows administrators to mark messages that should be sent using an encrypted connection (TLS). Messages that cannot be sent over a TLS encrypted connection are returned to the sender, not sent without TLS. Like Strict Transport Security (STS), RequireTLS also protects against man-in-the-middle attacks and rollback encryption.
Mail servers – Authentication per host when forwarding or routing e-mail:
While forwarding, routing or collecting (canceling) email, administrators can define authentication settings for the host MDaemon connects to. These settings can be applied to handling “unknown emails”, mailing list routing settings, forwarding or queuing settings for gateways, and forwarding settings for individual accounts.
Mail Servers – Bundling for added protection against system failures:
MDaemon’s new Clustering Service allows administrators to configure multiple MDaemon servers in an active/active cluster. MDaemon synchronizes all configurations between servers, allowing multiple servers to serve user accounts at the same time.
Mail Server – Authentication Failure Logs:
The new authentication failure logging screen and appropriate log file allows administrators to track authentication failures for SMTP, IMAP, and POP. This information includes the protocol used, the session ID so you can search for other logs, the offender’s IP address, the raw connection value used (sometimes this is an alias), the account that matches the connection (or ‘does not exist’ if there are no matching accounts) and the Notes field which may contain additional data when the attempt is made via SMTP.
Mail Servers – Pending Message Queues:
To avoid message delivery delays caused by the accumulation of messages in the inbound queue, MDaemon now has a dedicated message queue. Messages placed in the pending queue will have a scheduled date to exit the queue which is encoded in their filename.
